Week 41: Mom email

Our recent convert took us to Costco and got us soooooo much stuff! She said her family sends her 500 dollar Costco gift cards a couple times a year (birthday, Christmas and stuff) but she is 72 and lives alone and doesn't eat Costco enough. So, she said she just has a stack of like 7000 in Costco gift cards that she doesn't know what to do with. It is crazy. She is awesome.

Week 41: Ordinary Week

Hello all! This week was a good one as well! Sadly not a whole lot of stuff out of the ordinary happened. We just taught some lessons and tracted and did service. One day, while we were tracting, a guy let us in and told us he had promised missionaries in the past that he would read the Book of Mormon. He got it out and showed us he had got to 2 Nephi over the course of the last year or so. We asked him when he would finish it and he set himself a challenge for the next 90 days and wrote it on his fridge. That was pretty cool. I am excited to see if he stays true to his goal.

Service this week was a lot of yard work. We helped a few older ladies plant flowers and trees and pressure washed a shed.

Anyways, that's all for this week. Till next time.

Week 40: Transfers and such

Hello everyone!
This week was a good one! On Wednesday we had transfers so we went down and dropped Elder Ramos off and picked up Elder Hatch. He is pretty cool. He has been out for 20 months and is from Utah. I am excited. This should be a good transfer.

On Thursday I went back down to Tacoma for DLT (District Leader Training). That was good as well. There weren't very many of us there but it was a really good training. They gave a lot of good advice and after we had a big lunch.

On Saturday JoAnn, one of our investigators got baptized! That was really cool. She was really excited. She had planned it all out and everything. There was a good amount of people that came, including the first missionary to teach her almost a year ago. Later that night she told us, "yeah that was good, I could do that again." Which was awesome.

Anyways. That's all for this week.
Till next time

Week 39: Why I Believe

Hello everyone!

This week was a good one! Not a whole lot went on. We taught a lot of lessons and helped a lot of people. It was nice. We didn't really have any time where we didn't have anything going on. It made for the week to go by really quick.

We got our transfer calls this week! I will be staying in Gig Harbor for another six weeks! That was good news, I really like it here. It is a really good place.

Last night we had a Why I Believe Fireside in Silverdale. That was awesome. The whole north conference, (all missionaries from Gig Harbor up to Port Angeles) met together and was the choir for the fireside. There, a bunch of recent converts got up and bore their testimony and shared their story. Some of them were converts from a few years ago and one was just baptized 4 days ago. It was really cool. The chapel was packed and the people that spoke did a great job. The spirit there was super strong and the amount of support for these people was awesome too. I hope I get to go to more of them in the future.

Anyways, that's all for this week. Till next time.

Week 38: General Conference

Hello everyone! This week was a good one! I went on exchanges this week out to Key Center! It was a lot of fun. We helped someone weld a trailer hitch back together. After helping him we did 5-7s and then went to some meetings. They live in a member's basement, which was pretty cool. It was weird to have dogs around though. Later this week while we were walking through the harbor on our way home Joanne, one of our investigators, honked at us and pulled over. She told us that she wanted to be baptized. That was pretty exciting. She has been going to church for about a year now and was wanting to be baptized for a while. She was scared about how her family would react but she decided that she wanted to do what God wanted. We were all really shocked when she told us. It was awesome.

It was also General Conference this weekend, which was really good. We watched all 4 sessions with different families and multiple people we have been working with. There was a lot of really good messages and it brought the spirit to everyone's home that I was in.

Anyways, that's all for this week.

Week 37: Dad email

Spring is here!!! It is so nice. I haven't been wearing like 4 layers and it's sunny until like...8 o'clock which makes missionary work easier.

We usually have one or two or three lessons we teach every day. We are working with a lot of part member families here and are helping them become whole member families. We have another lady who wants to be baptized but is too scared to call her brother and tell him which is hard.

I learned how to play Pokemon this week! That makes 3 card games I can play now. Magic is still the best by far though. Pokemon still makes world championship desks though, which is fun because I can play competitive-level games but not pay competitive-level prices. One of the elders in the zone has a bunch of world championship decks we have been using.

Week 37: Another Week Come and Gone

Hello everyone!

This week was a pretty normal week, going to be honest. Not a lot out of the ordinary happened. However, we did have interviews with our mission president on Wednesday! That was fun. President and Sister Leishman are both really cool and it is always good to see them again. At interviews, one of my companions was telling them about how he got bit by a dog a few days prior to interviews and Sister Leighman ended up buying us these ultrasonic dog sound maker things to make the dogs stop barking! They got to our house the day after interviews and we have been using them since. It is really cool. There were a couple of times it has worked really well and made the dog turn around and run in the other direction. Some of them it doesn't work well on, but it is still pretty fun. After interviews, we had a pretty normal week. We did some teaching and some tracting. All in all it was a pretty good week.

Till next time
